Functional capacity evaluations (FCE's)
Functional capacity evaluations (FCE's)
Peak Performance Physical Therapy has been conducting Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) since 1996. Scott A. Dickie, PT, DPT, COMT, and Ben Wilson, PT, DPT, perform the full evaluation (one day, four hours) or an abbreviated ""mini-test"" for assessing specific areas.
The procedure includes objective testing such as static and hand strength assessments, occasional, frequent, and constant materials handling, non-materials handling, and various job- and function-specific tasks like climbing, crawling, squatting, prolonged standing and sitting, bending, reaching, and carrying.
Throughout the test, validity criteria are measured while considering the patient’s physical condition and reported symptoms. The results are compiled into detailed reports, providing objective data for doctors, adjusters, employers, and patients to assess their ability to safely perform specified tasks.
